Rosh Chodesh Tevet

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon besieged Jerusalem in the month of Tevet, before the Temple was destroyed in 586 BC (2 Kings 25:1; Jer. 39:1; Ezek. 24:1-2). The name of the tenth month is explicitly called Tevet (טֵבֵת) in the Scriptures (see Esther 2:16).

The following (simplified) blessing can be recited to ask the LORD to help you for the coming new month:

“May it be Your will, LORD our God and God of our fathers,
that you renew for us a good month in our Lord Yeshua the Messiah. Amen.”
